1. Tempelhof park
Experience Berlin like a local and head to Tempelhof Park, the former runway for the historic Tempelhof Airport (best known as the site of the historic Berlin Airlift). The park features two beer gardens, bikes (including children's and 4-seater bikes), mini golf and old rail tracks to walk along and the view of the beautiful old airport.

2. Reichstag dome
There are a number of opportunities to see Berlin from above but the Reichstag dome is my favourite and most fun for the kids. Make your way to the top of Berlin's parliamentary building as you wind round the clear dome. It's free to visit but you must book in advance online and bring ID on the day.

3. Cafe am Neuen
Biergartens are a popular part of German culture and there are many across the city. This one is set inside the Tiergarten, a giant park near the Brandenburg Gate. Walk through the park and head to the bier garden where you can hire a row boat and spend some time on the little lake next to the biergarten, younger kids can play in the little sand pit and there is a selection of food and drinks to enjoy.

4. Popsicles at Paletas
Paletas is a popular Berlin brand that sell their colourful and flavourful ice pops across the city and from their own shop in Friedrichshain. Their delicious popsicles are made with 100% natural ingredients.
5. Take to the water
Berlin is filled with water ways and there are a number of boat tours on offer. They vary greatly in length so it's best to check which one is most suitable for you child's age first. My recommendation is to head down to Hackescher Markt and take one of the tours from in front of Museum Island.
